- Design and develop the mechanical components of our next generation of POS devices and subsystems.
- Develop part designs and mechanical systems from concept to production.
- Enable and mentor mechanical engineers on your team and grow them professionally
- Manage engineering relationships with manufacturing partners
- Collaborate with a cross-functional team to deliver world class devices.
- Understand the restaurant environment and design products to survive it.
- Root-cause various issues (design, manufacturability, production) to optimize designs to successfully take products to mass production.
- Design for function, reliability, human factors, manufacturability, and cosmetic requirements.
- Support reliability issues related to products that are in the field and being used by our customers.
- BS degree in mechanical engineering
- 10+ years of experience developing smartphone or handheld devices
- 3+ years experience managing engineering teams
- Experience with mechanical design and manufacturing processes, such as plastic, glass, rubber, metal components, PCBs/FPCBs, soft goods and opto-electronic physical designs used in electronic products.
- Experience with decorating technologies like painting, anodization, plating, printing and coatings.
- Experience with part/tool qualification.
- Hands-on, real-world troubleshooting experience (root-cause analysis, 8D reports, corrective actions, etc)
- Experience with building strategic partnerships and working day to day with manufacturing suppliers
- A bias towards action, with the ability to balance between getting things done and making things perfect
- Experience in a rapidly growing business and identifying opportunities as the business evolves over time.
- Experience working with remote teams residing in multiple time zones.
